Take the Soul of the man and sprinkle with a touch of Blues, add a touch of Gospel seasoned with R&B and serve with one of the tightest bands in town. This is the recipe that goes to make up 'Reuben Richards & The Soul Train', Which is no less than what his many fans has come to know and expect when they go to see the Soul Man live. Early influences included Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklyn and later other artistes made their mark including Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Nina Simone, Al Green, Stevie Winwood and Van Morrison.
Legendary disc jockey Emperor Rosco, who knew Otis well, said Reuben's covers of Otis's songs such as, Hard To Handle and Try A Little Tenderness, were ''as good as it gets''.
