What they say:

The unstoppable vegan train keeps storming through London and this time one of the carriages is the super-healthy Essence Cuisine. Formerly a pop-up run by celebrity vegan chef Matthew Kenney – of Santa Monica restaurant MAKE fame – their permanent home is their new base to deliver a variety of meat, dairy, gluten and refined sugar-free meals. They’ll be serving that up in a venue of rough cement walls, an aluminium ceiling and a concrete bar. Here you can get a variety of drinks, from cold pressed juices and nut milks to vegan wines and cocktails.

What we say:

Has healthy eating ever looked this good? At this rate, healthy eating is going to lose all stigma, especially when you look at some of the dishes that Essence are serving up. For breakfast you can get quinoa porridge with radish, sprouts, chilli flakes and seeded bread, or a more indulgent raw pancakes with candied walnuts, berry salad, mint and vanilla coconut cream. Lunch and dinner consists of salads alongside main dishes, like heirloom tomato lasagne or raw pad Thai, created from kelp noodles with kale, tamari almonds and lime. And if you really want to treat yourself, their desserts include lime cheesecake with ginger crumble, as well as a selection of fresh, homemade nut cheeses – available as a cheese board with raw crackers, pear chutney, pickled radish and sundried tomato salsa.
