Essence Cuisine

Description

Essence Cuisine serves plant-based food to Shoreditch.

The former pop-up has found a permanent home in East London, serving up a variety of meat, dairy, gluten and refined sugar-free meals. The venue itself drops the pretension, offering up rough cement walls, a concrete bar and an aluminium ceiling.

Run by famous vegan celebrity chef Matthew Kenney, the menu offers food from breakfast through to dinner, with options to takeaway. Breakfast and brunch features options like quinoa porridge with radish, sprouts and chilli flakes; lunch and dinner are geared towards healthy salads and dishes like the Essence Bowl, made from quinoa, cumin sweet potato and Jerusalem artichoke cream and pumpkin seeds. There’s also heartier dishes like heirloom tomato lasagne, followed by desserts including lime cheesecake with ginger crumble. For drinks, they deserve a range of cold pressed juices and nut milks, or vegan wines and cocktails.
