Kima

Description

Located on Paddington Street, Kima is a bright and airy restaurant that draws inspiration from Greek seas to create modern, Mediterranean cuisine. Fronting dark, wooden furnishings, mixed with splashes of cream and golden light fixtures, it provides a sophisticated dining setting to enjoy innovative plates.

Founded by managing director Andreas Labridis and executive chef Nikos Roussos (who has two Michelin stars to his name), it's another string to the pair's bow as, in 2014, they opened OPSO before continuing to expand with INO and Pittabun, each eatery reflecting a different part of Greek gastronomy.

At Kima, they source fresh seafood daily and exercise a 'use-all, waste-not' philosophy which translates as their 'fin to gill' approach to cooking. Taking influence from Greek culinary heritage, all ingredients are selected carefully and, more often than not, married with extra virgin olive oil from premium producers. The menu fronts a selection of creative dishes, such as elevated surf and turf affairs and dainty desserts. From the octopus 'xidato' (£34) to the sea bream shank fricassee (£38), there's lots to get excited about, including a 75 dots seaweed millefeuille (£13) to finish.

Drinks-wise, a collection of Greek wines can be enjoyed, along with international labels that include hidden gems and well-known bottles. In addition to fabulous finds honouring the Assyrtiko grape, it boasts a sake selection and a cocktail list showcasing authentic spirits, such as mastiha and ouzo.
