Having struck gold with his smart take on kebabs with Le Bab and Maison Bab, Manu Canales is opening his boldest space yet. Found in Covent Garden, Kebab Queen is hiding a secret behind its traditional kebab shop front - a very smart, 10-seater restaurant. Turning the perception of the dish on its head, the restaurant will feature a seven-course tasting menu that guests watch being cooked from 10 cobalt blue bar stools that a surround a wood-fired grill.
Among the Turkish and Mediterranean dishes there will be some playful twists on traditional plates; a doner kebab is turned into a lamb jus risotto or there's a bite-sized BBQ'd fois gras kebab. And while the food might be smart, the vibe is casual with diners encouraged to tuck in using their hands. The space will be open Wednesday - Saturday, with the seven-course tasting menu costing £65 and wine pairing an additional £35.
