On Friday 10th March, The Bedford in Balham will host a special pub quiz to raise money to help the millions of people affected by the earthquakes in southern Turkey and northern Syria.
In honour of our Turkish staff and their families, and in conjunction with our Balham neighbours Betto restaurant, who are also Turkish, we wanted to raise funds to provide food, clean water, shelter and medicine to survivors, as well as supporting longer term recovery efforts.
The quiz starts at 7pm and rounds will cover all areas of general knowledge. Teams of up to six are allowed. Tickets cost £15 and include a delicious platter of Turkish food. The ticket is also inclusive of 5 raffle tickets although more can be bought on the night. Prizes include a £50 bar tab plus many more.
Friends at local companies such as Moxon's Clapham, Mimi V Artworks and Headmasters Hairdressers also kindly donated prizes for an additional fundraising raffle held throughout the evening. *
100% of the money raised will be divided between the following three organisations:
https://ahbap.org/ - A Turkish non-governmental organisation which "provide all kinds of help, in the form of in-kind and cash assistance, to those in need"
https://www.kahev.org.tr/ - Female Physicians Supporting Education. In response to the earthquake, they have set up a scholarship fund to support medical students who have been affected by the disaster, which is where we will be directing profits.
https://www.dec.org.uk/ - Disasters Emergency Committee, who "raise funds to provide emergency aid and rapid relief to people caught up in disasters"

4. Occasionally, events are cancelled or postponed by the promoter, team, performer or venue for a variety of reasons. If the event is cancelled, please contact us for information on receiving a refund from the responsible party. If the event was moved or rescheduled, the venue or promoter may set refund limitations. It is your responsibility to ascertain the date and time of any rearranged event.
5. The venue reserves the right to refuse admission and may on occasion have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons.
6. Every effort to admit latecomers will be made at a suitable break in the event, but admission cannot always be guaranteed.
7. We regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase.
8. Tickets are sold subject to the venue or promoter's right to alter or vary the programme due to events or circumstances beyond its control without being obliged to refund monies or exchange tickets.
9. If this ticket is re-sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone other than the promoter, venue management, DesignMyNight or one of their authorised sub-agents, it will become voidable and the holder may be
refused entry to or ejected from the venue.
10. The venue may operate a No Smoking Policy.
11. The promoter, venue management and DesignMyNight accept no responsibility for any personal property.
12. The event listed on the purchased ticket is strictly for ticket holders who are over 18 years of age. Identification may be required.
