Anyone who has fallen down the Labubu rabbit hole on TikTok has been watching a new purchase craze sweep the nation for months now. These tiny, fuzzy, somewhat adorable character keychains have become the 'it' item, with their rise to fame attributed to Lisa from K-Pop band BlackPink.
Since then, everyone from Dua Lipa to Rihanna and Emma Roberts have been jumping on the trend, attaching them to Louis Vuitton bags and doing live box openings on Instagram.
The excitement of Labubu blind boxes offer consumers the chance to buy a randomly chosen toy from that series, with super sought-after 'secret edition' Labubus also up for grabs if you're lucky enough to find something rare. London shops are still being overrun with people looking to buy their own Labubu, or grow their personal collection, with queues seen down and around the streets for miles.
What Is A Labubu?
A Labubu is an elf-like character that featured in The Monsters books. Inspired by Nordic mythology, The Monsters books' characters were designed in 2015 by Hong Kong designer Kasing Lung.
The Labubu character has been transformed into physical and collectible figurines as part of themed series, featuring their iconic tails, serrated teeth and big, bulging eyes.
