This cocktail bar is launching an afternoon tea with a boozy twist

Afternoon tea classics are re-imagined in cocktail form at Brick Lane's Cocktail Trading Co.

Forget bottomless brunch and Sunday roasts, afternoon tea is the experience that we can't get enough of. We love an indulgent spread of sandwiches, cakes and nibbles fit for royalty and now, the Cocktail Trading Co is reinventing the quintessentially British pastime with an injection of its quirky cocktails, all set to the sound of cake-driven singalongs. With a live band providing the soundtrack to your afternoon, you can request songs and dance the afternoon away.

If you dread the thought of drab sandwiches and over-brewed tea, then let cocktails and cake revive your weekend. On arrival, you'll be greeted by a punch bowl, before tucking in to a delicious selection of finger sandwiches and handcrafted cakes. You can also choose a cocktail from the exclusive Afternoon Par-Tea menu. We love the sound of the Shake and Bake, which combines rum with homemade pineapple marmalade, mandarin-almond sherbet, fresh lime and bitters, before garnishing with a miniature battenberg cake - in true CTC style.

Afternoon Par-Tea takes place on the first and last Saturdays of the month from 1-3pm at the Cocktail Trading Co, 68 Bethnal Green Rd, London, E1 6GQ. Tickets cost £35.
