There’s nothing quite like spring in and around London, and as the winter’s grey skies begin to fade, a season of colour-filled events and festivities begins – from the vibrant displays of the Hampton Court Tulip Festival to the budding cherry blossoms around the city. But as the season continues to shift to summer, another floral highlight begins to bloom.
Mayfield Lavender Farm
Mayfield Lavender Farm is a family-run, organic lavender farm offering 25 acres of fragrant blooms free to explore. Set in the rolling countryside of the North Surrey Downs just outside London, the farm opens every summer for you to wander through rows of lavender, enjoy peaceful rural views, spot local wildlife, and slow down for a moment away from the city.
How Far Is Mayfield Lavender Farm From London?
Just 15 miles from Central London, Mayfield is one of the easiest countryside escapes from the capital. Whether you're driving or taking the train, you can be wandering through lavender fields within an hour of leaving the city.
What Can You Do At Mayfield Lavender Farm?
The main attraction are the rows of vibrant lavender, but beyond the fields, there’s also an on-site café and gift shop worth stopping by, where you can enjoy afternoon tea and browse lavender-inspired products and gifts.
One important thing to know: picnics are not allowed anywhere on the farm, so visitors should plan to eat at the café or before arriving.
When Is The Best Time To Visit?
The farm is open from Saturday 6th June to Sunday 23rd August 2026. The best time to visit is mid-July to early August for peak blooms.
