Every year, as the temperature starts to drop, I put it upon myself to find the perfect Sunday roast. And regarded as DesignMyNight's resident Sunday roast expert (it's rare you'll find me without a plate piled with spuds and gravy on a Sunday), I've tasted my way across some of the city's finest. After heading to their Seven Dials outpost last year, I found that Hawksmoor undoubtedly served one of the very best in London - thanks to incredible, perfectly cooked beef and a stunning assortment of sides and wines - and felt that it was time for a revisit to check it was still up there for my 2026 best roast roundup.

The roasts at Hawksmoor showcase high-quality, 100% British beef from family-run farms.

Menu Highlights
On my last visit, I went for the Sunday feasting option - choosing a cut from their blackboard - so this time around, I made sure to try the classic roasted beef.
Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Dry-aged sirloin (£35) - Hawksmoor are of course famous for their beef, which shines through their generous Sunday roasts. The sirloin, served pink, was tender and juicy - plated up next to gloriously crispy beef dripping roast potatoes, a huge, fluffy Yorkshire pudding, roasted carrots and buttered greens, all drizzled in bone marrow and onion gravy (which was so good, I asked for a second serving of it)
- Charcoal-roasted scallops (£21.50) - these melt-in-the-mouth rounds were served piping hot, with moreish flavours of white port and garlic running through, complemented by a crumb on top that added a nice texture

The Hawksmoor Caesar salad (left) and the sticky toffee pudding (right) were both delicious.
- Hawksmoor Caesar salad (£11) - a great showcase of the classic; think gorgeous crunchy romaine lettuce sprinkled in a shower of parmesan, with that umami, Cantabrian anchovy-rich dressing bringing it all together
- Sticky toffee pudding (£10) - though not my favourite sticky toffee pud ever (it was a little too dense for my liking), the toffee sauce was generous and indulgent
Drink: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Ultimate Old Fashioned (£17) - this well-balanced spin on the timeless classic featured a heady blend of Eagle Rare 10 Y.O. Bourbon, Bulleit Rye, oolong tea (which added a light floral fragrance) and Demerara for a caramel-like sweetness
- Ultimate Spicy Margarita (£16) - mixing Patron Silver, Quiquiriqui mezcal, jalapeno, habanero, yuzu and lime, this zingy, smoky tipple went down an absolute treat
- Bottle of Barco Reale di Carmignano, Capezzana, 2023 (£71) - we enjoyed this bold bottle of red alongside our mains; it started off a tad too tart, but as the meal went on, it opened up to deep fruity flavours

DesignMyNight Review Out Of 5: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
It was a real treat digging into Hawksmoor's Sunday roast again, and it's undeniable - they really do serve one of the best roasts in London. However, I would say that I preferred the Sunday feasting option, where you choose a steak cut from the blackboard, although the genuine Sunday roast was also delicious - and served at a competitive price point considering the quality, portions and brand. If you're looking for a top-quality roast, especially one in a Central London location boasting a slick steakhouse vibe, you honestly can't go wrong with Hawksmoor.
