I don't know about anyone else when they were growing up, but visiting a car boot sale on a Sunday wasn't just fun, it was a family commitment. Early mornings were spent casting eyes over tables and blankets filled with trinkets and bits, while you watched your parent haggle toys down from £1 to 50p.
My husband and I still love the smell of car boot doughnuts from the van whenever we're at one (of course, I married someone who likes to visit them too). And while not all car boot sales bear fruit, we think these London options are promising if you're looking for a great bargain and a brilliant morning. Not all are in a field as you might expect, but you'll still bear witness to trunks filled with discarded home items and vintage opportunity.

Classic Car Boot Sale - Kings Cross
- Why we recommend: This place is a big win for truly unique vintage and antique pieces. We're talking authentic 1940s militaria, 50s accessories and 80s memorabilia. There's a bar, scooter and vintage cars being showcased too, making it more than just a boot sale in London but a whole all-day experience. There are now events in Manchester aswell, and we expect they'll expand across other cities in the coming year too.

- Takes place: Once or twice throughout the year, with the upcoming event on 27th & 28th September, 2025.
Peckham Car Boot - Peckham
- Why we recommend: This car boot is an impressive mix of both your run-of-the-mill car boot items, such as toys and household items, to vintage accessories and clothing. It's where locals, and antique dealers blend nicely, and it's a must for people looking to decorate their house with one-of-a-kind vintage items. There's regular traders too, if you miss something one week. But we'd always recommend snapping something up as soon as you see it.

Balham Car Boot - Balham
- Why we recommend: This is a great London boot sale for finding some cool, and niche, vintage items. There's a lot of housewares here too, so great if you've just got or moved into a new flat. It's got an affordable section of items if you only want to spend a couple of pounds too.

- Entry cost: £1 after 11am.
- Takes place: Every other Sunday.
Princess May Car Boot Sale - Stoke Newington
- Why we recommend: This is a great boot sale if it's raining in London, because they also have an indoor area. It's a decent car boot, especially for haggling and cheaper day-to-day items. There's less vintage (however, there's always 3 or 4 really good stalls for this), and dogs aren't allowed, but it's worth having a go at this one, especially if you like glassware and little trinkets.

Denham Giant Car Boot Sale - Greater London
- Why we recommend: Okay, so it's a little further out, and admittedly, an actual car will help getting here, but this is a seriously big one, and one of the biggest car boot sales in West London. This is your more traditional, boot-selling, with a lot of clothing and kids' bits.

- Entry cost: £2 before noon.
- Takes place: Every Saturday, from spring to winter.
Capital Carboot - Pimlico
- Why we recommend: This is an all-year-round car boot (other than Christmas or NYE), come rain or shine. It's huge, and has indoor and outdoor sections too. It's the perfect option to find a bit of everything. They don't allow market stands either, so expect second-hand only.

- Entry cost: Early birds can book online for £7 to get in at 10am. Entry from 11:30am is £1.

St Augustine's Car Boot Sale - Kilburn
- Why we recommend: A traditional car park with over 29 years in the business, we've added this to the list because it's pretty much one of the most famous car boot sales in London. There's clothing, bric-a-crac, and even an indoor cafe selling homemade cakes before you continue snooping around the stalls. There's also a car boot sale around the corner if you're not done browsing - St Mary's Car Boot.
