What they say:

Basement Sate is a new dessert bar in the midst of Soho's back streets, aimed at the classy cool adults of London. It serves only dessert from the afternoon until midnight, with the selection of sweet treats being curated by pastry chef Dorian Picard. These sweet dishes perfectly complement the equally creative and sophisticated cocktails being served by celebrated bartender Byly Tran, so your whole gastronomic experience is expertly tailored from start to finish.

The bar itself comes decorated with sleek style in mind, so that means plenty of dark wood, rich upholstering and interesting design features. Expect interesting concoctions using unexpected ingredients like salted caramel and seaweed paired with really high quality spirits - entirely unpredictable combinations producing predictably delicious results.

What we say:

Cathleen McGarry, the co-owner of Paris' chicer than chic bar Sherry Butt, is here to save the day by reinvigorating Soho with a sense of style, fun and Parisian cool. Going one step further than the thoroughly British dessert destination The Pudding Bar up the street, Basement Sate's blend of late night drinking, dessert and dancing give it a bit of an edge.

The interior design with its dimly lit caves of green leather and gleaming copper tables invites discreet little meet-ups of friends as well as something-mores. Sophisticated and sensuous, we encourage you Londoners to dance until the wee hours fuelled by sugar highs and cocktail courage now Basement Sate has opened its doors.
