Description

68 and Boston is a wine and cocktail lounge nestled on Greek Street in the heart of Soho. The bar showcases an impressive selection of seasonal wines from the finest vineyards all over the world, the majority of which are priced at £20 per bottle. Why '68'? Simple - there are no less than 67 main wine producing nations around the world, and the owners want this to be the 68th destination where guests can experiment a little with the type of grape they'd usually go for.

The cocktail bar, "Boston", hidden above "68", kicks into life come nightfall. Using a diverse selection of international spirits, spices and fruits, their mixologists mix up an irresistible array of tantalising beverages for the bar's guests to gulp down. Named after the Boston Shaker, the bar has a décor inspired by the golden age of drinking. Think post-war decadence, portraits on the wall and sophisticated-cum-cool vibes, accompanied by a bespoke menu of bar food, courtesy of a neighbouring restaurant.

The venue is the brainchild of Eric Yu, Luca Cordiglieri and Martin Malley, three of the most experienced wine and bar connoisseurs in the capital. Malley is the owner of the London-based wine merchants Planets of the Grapes and has used his extensive knowledge to stock the venue full of exquisite wine, while Yu and Cordiglieri have made the most of their years running successful bars and restaurants, having been in charge of the prestigious Breakfast Group and opulent China Tang respectively.

Came here for the second time last night, it's the perfect place for a nice relaxing drinks with friends or date night! Drinks are reasonably priced and the service is good! I'll be back!

Had a great evening at 68 and Boston. I love the way they price their (highly drinkable) wines and the service was great. The food we ordered took a while to arrive so they gave us a glass of wine for free as compensation. We didn't even complain.. Nice touch that. I'll definitely be going back. They lose a star because it was pretty hot in the bar on a warm summer's evening. But that's a minor quibble. visited 68 and Boston on 08 Jun 2017

Drinks were good. Service was shocking. I've never seen anything like it; it makes Fawlty Towers look like the Ritz. A waiter that couldn't remember an order, so got a serviette to write it down on but couldn't even manage that. So one of us went up to the bar to help him and he still got it all wrong. A glass smashed, he eventually came and cleared the table, but left the puddle of liquid and the ice cubes on the floor. And despite asking about six times, I kid you not, he couldn't manage to bring any tap water. The waiters that ended up covering for him made it clear that they had other areas to look after and shouldn't be working our area. An awful experience. And not cheap either. visited 68 and Boston on 02 Jun 2017

Really nice bar and atmosphere, friendly staff, but the service was so very slow. None of our party (group of 8) were fans of the cocktails on the menu, so we ordered classics instead. visited 68 and Boston on 02 Jun 2017

Very disappointed for a first impression and having heard good things about the bar. Seated practically in the doorway, it took ages to get staff attention to order a drink. When we did, the bottle of wine and glasses were placed on the bar behind us and we were then asked to get them ourselves. Having poured our own drinks, the bottle of prosecco had no bucket and sat warming by the candlelight for the duration of the evening. Expected better service. visited 68 and Boston on 02 Jun 2017

Good venue to meet up for a couple of drinks. We went to the wine bar ground floor, which has a relaxed, almost pub bar like feel. Reasonable prices for wine, and a good selection of wines by the glass. We booked ahead to meet at 6pm on a Thursday, but at that time it was pretty quiet anyway. Although I think that could be because a terrible wet weather! Was filling up by the time we left. We liked the fact that the music was relaxed and at a background level, which made it pleasant for catching up with conversation. Would definitely recommend as a place to start off the evening. visited 68 and Boston on 18 May 2017

When we went to the cocktail bar afterwards, one of the barmen wasn't particular impressive. He didn't serve us for quite a while and then, once he took our order, he only came over with my friend's drink and not mine. visited 68 and Boston on 26 May 2017

Great layout and setting, it's all a bit fur coat and no knickers - the wine was very disappointing for the price point - being a wine bar I expect the bar to serve quality wines, it's not the case.. visited 68 and Boston on 26 May 2017

All sorts of confusion over the booking, despite having had a phone call from the venue to confirm, led to one of our party almost being refused entry & then taken to completely the wrong table. Felt as though they try to squeeze as many people in as possible - the table next to us we're practically sitting on us. Service when it came was good, but slow in coming. visited 68 and Boston on 27 Apr 2017

I love 68 & Boston and have been several times - it's such a gem in Soho. I did try to call several times 2 hours' notice before my booking to push it back but noone answered the phone and so I emailed. When we arrived, our table had been given away as they didn't read my email but we were seated immediately anyway and it was actually a great table downstairs. The menu's great however it's such a shame that they've changed it to no longer offer carafes, and the Malbec and prosecco is now on the £30 list instead of £20. Also please bring back the toasties - those were great! visited 68 and Boston on 21 Apr 2017

The bar itself was nice, as were the drinks and location but the service was pretty appalling. We were left seated for 10 minutes without anyone bringing over a menu or asking if we wanted anything (there was a waiter standing nearby doing nothing the whole time). We asked for tap water with our drinks which wasn't brought over for about 20 minutes. Likewise when we tried to pay this took forever. I like this place but the experience that evening wasn't top. We were in the cocktail bar and the waitress was not very good, left us alone for ages and didn't come to serve unless we chased her. She also didn't know half of the drinks we were ordering and pushed one of us out of the way to put water on the table. When the drinks came they were great ! When we moved to another section of the bar other waiters kept telling us to move in a rather brute manner without engaging with us just telling us to move. We moved to the other bar section which was much better with very friendly bar staff. visited 68 and Boston on 17 Mar 2017

Once instead and table found it was great. Irritating having to queue even tho we'd booked. We asked to change table for a nicer "non rocking" one which was done without much fuss, so thanks for that. Lovely wine and food. Shame there are 2 hour blocks as we'd have stayed for more food and wine. Also music just a tad too loud as we couldn't always hear conversations we were having. Otherwise all cool - thanks. visited 68 and Boston on 03 Mar 2017

Love the atmosphere in here and have returned time after time. although it is extremely loud on Friday and Saturday evenings with music that drowns out your conversation. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. It's a shame they have raised the prices of the prosecco by £10 over the last few months, but there are some lovely wines for £20. visited 68 and Boston on 03 Mar 2017

Our server admitted she thought I had ordered two glasses of wine instead of a bottle on account of the bar being noisy. She was not apologetic at all and did not bother to make it right! I was charged for the 2 glasses and the bottle I had to order afterwards. Where did she learn customer service?? visited 68 and Boston on 02 Mar 2017

When I first arrive the waitress at reception misplaced my booking for the Wine Bar and sent upstairs to the Cocktail bar. Upstairs they couldn't find my booking but eventually sat me at the smallest table. I did have an email confirmation but couldn't find it and the waitress ask me to show it to her to make sure I had the correct booking. The waitress never got back to my table and when I finally retrieved the email confirmation I realised my table was booked downstairs. So I went back down and spoke to the waitress who checked and said my table was not ready yet. This was 20minutes after I was supposed to be seated. It was not a great start, however eventually the waitress gave me another table and told me i could stay longer so all was sorted. visited 68 and Boston on 24 Feb 2017

It was Fantastic! The staff were all so warm & friendly & the area was perfect! We loved it! I'll definitely be back with my friends again. Did I leave a black paper aqua bag there with some boots & shiny jumper? Thanks Dominie 07799344897 visited 68 and Boston on 25 Feb 2017

Limited range of cocktails and most are overly sweet. The drinks didn't match the surroundings. It was a nice enough place, I don't think it was bad at all visited 68 and Boston on 25 Feb 2017

I had not realized it was a nightclub atmosphere in a cocktail lounge.... you should not market the place as a cocktail lounge which is supposed to be a place where you can enjoy cocktails, have a discussion and enjoy music. Here the music was blasting so loud you could not say a word. Would not recommend it. visited 68 and Boston on 24 Feb 2017

Great bar - cosy and ambient wine bar downstairs with a cool cocktail bar upstairs. The menu of £20 wine bottles is fantastic - allows for sampling different wines without breaking the bank.

The door staff didn't have a clue and were trying to seat people without reservations leaving me waiting for a table that was booked. We then waited 25 mins for our drinks! The bar man was great the staff on the door and girl with headphones were not effective and actually made the night a bit of a drag. Been before and it was much better the cocktails are excellent and the environment and ambience is great. Improve your door policy! Julie visited 68 and Boston on 17 Feb 2017

Hi, so this was my bday drinks with my closest friends. The experience was not as smooth as I had hoped. I pre-ordered+paid some drinks and food but I dont think everything came (we got given 1 Chorizo, 2 Burrata, 1 Calamari and 1 Olives only). Also, when the bill came at the end, my prepayment was not reflected on the bill... Appreciate it was a busy Fri night but just did get the impression that things were organised. visited 68 and Boston on 17 Feb 2017

I was very impressed to have a last minute booking accepted for a Friday night table in 68 and Boston's cocktail bar area. However my main critiscms are the choice of cocktails - call me fussy but I would have expected a wider choice. Also the staff weren't very attentive so ordering drinks and paying all took too long. visited 68 and Boston on 03 Feb 2017

Great venue! Was my first time visiting, and they gave me a courtesy call during the day just to confirm my reservation and table. Table was great and the music wasn't too loud. A lot of cocktail bars have music so loud that you can't speak to the people you are with. Would defo visit again. Bartenders special on menu is a great idea, More bars should do the same. visited 68 and Boston on 04 Feb 2017
