What they say:

Mezcaleria Quiquiriqui is now closed.

The brainchild of two friends Jenny Beardshall and Melanie Symonds and inspired by a cultural trip to Mexico, Quiquiriqui is London's newest and coolest South American bar. As soon as the two friends encountered the traditional Mexican drink mezcal, they knew they were onto a winner and started developing the first bar of its type in the capital.

Jenny and Melanie tell customers what to expect when it comes to mezcal, "For those who have not yet come across what we like to call proper mezcal, think more earthy, more minerally, more fiery, more primal, more visceral, more grrrrr than most things you will have drunk before." - sounds like fun. Also billed as the mother of tequila, the hype surrounding London's first mezcal bar is massive, and we couldn't let it's opening pass without giving it a plug. With mezcal bars popping up in Berlin, Paris and New York it's clear that mezcal will soon be London's new favourite drink.

What we say:

Mezcaleria Quiquiriqui is sure to be one of the biggest hits of 2012; a fiery and edgy flavour blend, mezcal has been a South American staple and is now bringing its unique style to London. Quiquiriqui means "Cock-a-doodle-doo" in Mexico and you'll definitely be crowing after you get inside this hidden London gem, tucked away under a kebab shop in Hackney. With vibrant decor and a fun vibe Quiquiriqui seems intent on bringing some sunshine to London this Autumn - something we can't wait to see.

With a great range of mezcal cocktails on offer, as well as Mexican beers with lime and salt, you're sure to find something perfect for your tastes; couple this with great music and an emphatic feel-good factor and you get arguably one of London's best openings of 2012. So if you fancy a slice of fun in London then Quiquiriqui could be a welcome haven for you and your friends. Be warned though, this place will get popular fast, we advise getting there ahead of the crowds and experience it before the rest of London get wise.
