Bar Music Hall London - Cocktail Bar Review

Bar Music Hall has now closed. It has been replaced by Blues Kitchen Shoreditch.

Bar Music Hall had always been touted to me as one of Shoreditch’s best party locations. With rare beers and cocktails on the menu, it sounded right up my alley, so I headed down to see whether it lived up to the hype.

The Venue

The first thing that comes to mind when walking into the Bar Music Hall in Shoreditch is ‘wow’.  It is the kind of place that really signals how a new age ‘music hall’ should look. Early evening you are greeted with the humming of deep bass, and a huge bar in the centre of the hall that is laden with every spirit, wine, cognac, beer and cider imaginable. One side of the room is filled with booths and tables and on the other side is where the music happens; with a stage and a dance floor that fills up as the night darkens. The long beams give the effect that the bar never ends (which in my books is just fine).

Bring and spacious, Bar Music Hall is a great space for after work drinks in Shoreditch.

The Clientele and Atmosphere

The dimmed lighting and constantly buzzing atmosphere of the crowd at Bar Music Hall definitely gets you in the mood for a night out. Whether you are there until 2am or much earlier you’re sure to have a good time. I’ve also been reliably informed they do particularly great Sunday Sessions and had it recommended by at least three groups of regulars while I was there, being told to head down one Sunday for some live music, good food and drink. Another string to Bar Music Hall’s bow.

My only critique of Bar Music Hall lies with some of the bar staff; while some were positively lovely, others had that all too frequent laidback approach to a busy Saturday night shift, a small negative on a big list of positives.

With lots of seating, you can kick back and enjoy the live music till the early hours.

The Food and Drinks

The bar itself is actually owned by a Belgium company, hence why their beer list is so extensive featuring some of the best Belgium beers you can find in London.  I had a taster selection of three very different beers and could have spent that night and the next finishing them all off.

The food, whether it’s bar snacks or a proper meal is great, I had the lamb burger which was very flavoursome and juicy with some delicious fries on the side. I would definitely go back to check out this unmissable Sunday Session everyone keeps talking about, sounds like a great weekend treat.
