We are thrilled to present the second iteration of our “Story Of” series, an exploration of the story of one of the most mysterious and enigmatic blues artists in history, Robert Johnson.
We’re bringing in one of London’s best guitarists, Oliver Darling, to pay homage to Johnson's extraordinary life and the music which made his name. From Crossroad Blues, to Come On In My Kitchen, Hellhound on My Trail and They’re Red Hot, expect a journey through the recordings that have given fuel to the legend.
This is a man whose life was shrouded in mystery, who supposedly sold his soul to the devil at the local crossroads of a Mississippi highway in exchange for his musical success. Despite this dubious deal, he achieved little renown in his lifetime and spent most of his days performing on street corners and juke joints. Nonetheless, he has achieved longevity through his contributions to the blues musical canon.
