Jazz Lates is a series of intimate Jazz events that take place in our wonderful living room. On Saturday 9th October it is with great pleasure that we welcome Gabriele Pribetti to the living room stage for the release of his new EP "Reeded Edge".

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Gabriele started his musical upbringing at a very early age. Inspired by his father, percussionist of one of the national Italian orchestras, he studied classical percussion at the conservatory of his hometown (Trieste, Italy). In 2007 Gabriele discovered his ease and passion for the saxophone, which became his main instrument ever since, and in 2013 his talent was recognized with the prestigious jazz prize Franco Russo. Gabriele moved to London in 2012 to expand his skills and keep exploring his sound. Playing and hanging at popular and underground jam sessions gave birth to a wide network and opportunities. Today some of his collaborations include: Stormzy (currently sax player of the official band who performed at Glastonbury 2019), Wizkid, Stefflon Don, General levy, Tiana Major9, Burna Boy, Geko, Maleek Berry, Jordan Rakei, Daymé Arocena, Sasha Keable, Zion Train, Jah9, Channel one sound system, Stylo G, Alicai Harley, Kiko Bun, Omar Lyefook, Congo Natty, Keith & Tex, The Pioneers, U-Roy, Vivian Jones, The Toasters and many others...
With a very percussive approach to his instrument and his compositions, his music combines his love for jazz and improvisation with his classical upbringing, leaving large spaces to interplay and free instantaneous composition. While his collaborations and his experience as a pro session musician in London bring everything to life with hip grooves and rumbling synths.

Like an equilibrist, Gabriele Pribetti (Composer and Saxophonist) walks on the grooved lines that run around a coin, balancing between two musical worlds: the tonal and atonal, in order to harness their equal power. The sounds of modern jazz harmonies, poly-rhythmic grooves and emotional classical melodies are contrasted with the sounds of free jazz, colorful absence of time and post-tonal contemporary soundscapes. The two realms crash like waves and yet, mingle.
Reeded edge is an electro-acoustic story: the round sound of the double bass is juxtaposed with the thunder of the synth bass, while the clean soothing timbre of the flugelhorn converses with the dark distorted tenor saxophone. The sound of the record and the musical flavor of the musicians involved place this project in the contemporary and ever-evolving London jazz scene.
