What they say:

The Blues Kitchen's Shoreditch location has given its basement bar a little spring clean. Decked out in rope panelling, stained-glass ceilings and carvings by Portuguese mural-artist Vhils, the bar specialises in a serving twists on classic whiskey cocktails. From Sazeracs to Scotch Manhattans, it's a cool, new overhaul of the classic Blues Kitchen menu - but don't worry if whiskey isn't your tipple, there'll be plenty of other delicious drinks on offer.

What we say:

Curtain Road's most notorious jazz palace has got a brand new basement bar. The new addition to the venue, Moonshine Minnie's, mixes speakeasy-cool with strong cocktails and a soundtrack which celebrates 70 years of female-fronted Rhythm & Blues, the perfect environment for settling down in the bar's new booth seating and whiling the night away with whiskey and the likes of Etta, Janice, Sister Rosetta and Koko Taylor.
