Looking for a luxury countryside escape near Glasgow that blends heritage, elegance and exceptional modern hospitality? JA Mar Hall Golf and Spa Resort delivers all of this with remarkable depth. Originally built in 1828 for the eleventh Lord Blantyre, the mansion was designed as a grand family home and a symbol of Scottish hospitality. Surrounded by fifty acres of woodland, the estate also supports sustainability through its five beehives which produce local honey, used throughout the resort.
In 2025, the property completed a major 20 million-pound renovation led by Align Partners. The project transformed the 65-room estate with redesigned guest rooms and suites, refreshed public spaces and enhanced leisure facilities, all while preserving the historic beauty of the house. Now under JA ownership, the resort has been repositioned as a destination of international calibre.
Part of this transformation includes the introduction of The Dining Room, the resort’s signature restaurant led by Executive Chef Tony Tapia. Chef Tapia heads a revitalised food and beverage team dedicated to refined dishes created with seasonal Scottish produce.

Dining Highlights at Vista Restaurant
Dinner at The Dining Room was a genuine highlight of our stay. Executive Chef Tony Tapia’s focus on seasonal Scottish produce shines in every dish, merging local ingredients with refined culinary technique.
Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Argyll smoked salmon (£14) - served with whipped roe and kohlrabi, this was a delicate, elegant and beautifully balanced dish
- Sirloin steak (£45) - this came with green peppercorn sauce and chips, cooked flawlessly and genuinely the best steak we have ever had
- Breakfast at JA Mar Hall is a real highlight, beginning with a traditional Scottish spread featuring classics like sausages, bacon, black pudding, tattie scones, eggs and buttery toast, all made using fresh, locally sourced produce. Alongside the cooked options, there’s a generous continental selection with freshly baked croissants, pastries and lighter bites. Enjoying it all in the hotel’s grand dining hall adds an elegant sense of occasion to the morning.
