Opening its doors in April this year, Cuvée is one of the newest Champagne bars to arrive in Glasgow and it already feels like a classic. Tucked away on Lynedoch Street, just off Woodlands Road, this intimate West End spot blends contemporary style with old-world charm. It focuses on wine, cheese and, of course, Champagne, as well as a ‘bijou cocktail list’, with subtle nods to Parisian and European bars in its design. And although it's best known as a late-night destination, we dropped by on a Saturday afternoon and found it just as inviting.
This stylish West End bar features warm, rustic décor and low lighting.
DesignMyNight’s Review Of Cuvée Glasgow
The atmosphere was warm and
relaxed, the kind of setting where you could happily sip Champagne
for hours, surrounded by soft light and a soundtrack that adds to
the ambience without intruding. The décor is
striking, from exposed brick walls and flickering candles to ornate
gold mirrors that are hundreds of years old. But the showstopper is
the vast antique mirror above the restored fireplace, a centrepiece
that instantly sets the tone for something a little
special. It’s stylish but comfortable, intimate
without feeling exclusive.
We started, naturally, with a chilled glass of Moët & Chandon Brut Imperial (£15 each), a sparkling opener that set the tone beautifully. To nibble, the gordal picante olives (£5) were plump and juicy, marinated with paprika, guindilla chilli and garlic, while the Gilda (£2), a skewered olive, chilli and anchovy, was a sharp, salty little flavour bomb. The mixed fancy nuts (£3) offered something simple for grazing, perfect with bubbles in hand.
Champagne and cocktails are the name of the game at Cuvée.
From there, things stepped up with a round of hot small plates. The Koffmann fries (£5) were golden and crisp, dangerously easy to eat. The salt cod croquettas (£7.50), served with lemon and alioli, were light yet rich. On the other hand, the ham croquettas (£7) with herb salad and garlic alioli delivered creamy, savoury indulgence, and both dishes were the kind you immediately consider ordering twice.
For something more substantial, the mezze board (£20 per person) was a highlight. A generous spread of cheeses and cold cuts, served with breads, oatcakes and condiments, it’s a sharing board designed for slow, easy eating and the perfect match for Cuvée’s drinks.
Try their mezze board for a selection of European bites.
And those drinks are really where Cuvée shines. To finish, the Suze and Peach Spritz (£12) was bright, refreshing and perfectly balanced for daytime sipping, a modern, elegant take on a spritz. The New York Sour (£12.50), meanwhile, brought depth and drama with Maker’s Mark bourbon, lemon, demerara and a striking red wine float. Both proved why this bar’s cocktail credentials are already making waves.
Overall: Cuvée
Cuvée may be one of the newest additions to Glasgow’s bar scene, but it’s already carved out a reputation as a place to savour. With its antique gold mirrors, restored fireplace and intimate charm, it’s a setting that feels built for Champagne and conversation, whether you’re in on a Saturday afternoon or well into the evening. The mezze board and croquettas are must-orders, but it’s the cocktails that truly elevate the experience. Sophisticated, stylish and full of character, Cuvée more than delivers.
