  • Best for: birthdays, team socials, hen or stag dos, quirky dates
  • Activity type: arcade games, dance mats, nostalgic fun

  • Why I recommend: you'lll find this retro arcade bar now dotted around the country, with outposts in London, Bristol and beyond, delivering neon-splattered interiors and games that'll take you back to your childhood, and Edinburgh's location is no different. It's my go-to for a bar with something alternative about it, and I really love how you can be dancing to Steps one minute, then battling it out on Guitar Hero the next, like it's the 00s

Get stuck into some nostalgic fun at NQ64, the quirky activity bar on Lothian Road. This Instagrammable location is covered in dark decor and neon graffiti, boasting a selection of 27 different retro arcade machines and video gaming consoles, offering everything from Mario Kart to Dance Dance Revolution.

In between games, you can munch on cheesy slices from Pizza Geeks, paired with colourful themed cocktails such as a Kong Island iced tea or the Aku Aku fruit punch. I love how unique this spot is, and the fact that it's open 'til late - it's definitely one of my top quirky activites for couples in Edinburgh.
