Our Review Of The Ivy Asia Brighton: A Luxurious Samurai Set Menu In The Heart Of The Lanes

Bringing its signature theatrical flair to the East Sussex coast, The Ivy Asia Brighton opened in The Lanes as part of the wider Ivy Asia collection, known for its bold interiors and pan-Asian menus.

Since launching in 2022, it’s become one of Brighton’s most visually striking dining destinations, blending high-end design with an array of crowd-pleasing menus that won’t leave your wallet empty. Their three-course Samurai menu is under £30, and I went along to see what all the fuss was about (spoiler alert, I wasn’t disappointed).

Menu Highlights

Food:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Prawn tempura - light, crispy and beautifully golden, these were everything you’d want from a tempura dish. The chilli lime and ginger dressing complemented the dish perfectly, giving it that extra twang of zest
  • Salt and pepper beef fillet - easily one of the standout dishes of the evening, the beef fillet served with ginger noodles and a sprinkling of cashews was packed with bold and savoury flavours, striking a great balance between richness and spice
  • Pork and kimchi gyoza - a comforting yet flavour-packed dish, these dumplings combined juicy pork with the tangy, slightly spicy kick of kimchi. The bites were indulgent, juicy and left me wanting many, many more
  • Doughnuts - a real highlight to finish, these warm, fluffy doughnuts were elevated by vibrant passion fruit and coconut flavours. The tropical sweetness was beautifully balanced by a tangy yoghurt dipping sauce. The giant portion size was also a welcome surprise, as I never wanted the sweet treats to end

Drinks: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • House rosé - a bottle proved to be a great choice; crisp, refreshing and an easy pairing with the bold flavours of the menu

Our Overall Experience At The Ivy Asia Brighton

DesignMyNight Review Out Of 5:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dining at The Ivy Asia Brighton was as much about the beautiful setting as it was the delicious food. The Saumari set menu was the perfect way to try a selection of dishes for under £30, a price point that was an absolute winner. It was the perfect excuse to have a luxurious dinner without breaking the bank. Plus, the toilets were a must-see.
