Bartender of the Week: Adam McLean, The Blue Pig

Each week we catch up with one of Manchester's favourite bartenders to talk about the city's bars, pubs and clubs. After all, what better way to get an insight into a bar than from the person serving the drinks? This week we ask Adam McLean, bartender at The Blue Pig, a few questions...

The Blue Pig Adam

Adam works at the Northern Quarter's Parisian style bar and bistro, The Blue Pig

Name: Adam McLean

Age: Too old for this game

Works at: The Blue Pig

You should come for drinks at The Blue Pig because…  we have a fine selection of classic cocktails, 25 great wines by the glass, a huge selection of bottled beers, local cask ales and as many single malts as we can fit on the shelf

I’ll whip you up a… Monkey Gland; gin, absinthe, grenadine & orange juice. Its weird but tasty just like its back story. Its named after a 1920s experiment to create an anti-ageing formula using baboon bollocks….

Mine’s a… large glass of monastrell (organic red wine from Murcia, Spain)

When I’m off duty you’ll normally find me… still working or propping up the bar at Odd Bar, Terrace or sadly at my own workplace.

The best thing about being a bartender is… seeing the joy on a baby’s face when they try their first cocktail.

Not many people know this but… I’m teetotal

Come and see me on… every day and Friday and Saturday nights.
