Hidden somewhere along Sloane Avenue lies Barts. London’s first speakeasy, a 1930s prohibition-style bar tucked away in an apartment building, and the setting to a gruesome murder...
Guests will manoeuvre their way through the infamous Chelsea Cloisters to find the secret black door. Beyond, lies not only Chelsea’s most notorious speakeasy - famed for its lawless liquor and raucous parties - but also something far more sinister… the scene of a terrible crime.
Do you consider yourself the no-nonsense type; sharp-minded, with a keen eye for loose-lipped liars? If so, keep reading... Firstly, rip your way through the police tape and enter the apartment to find a room of suspects, each with their own potential, spine-chilling motive. Then, it’s time to take in all the evidence. Get to know the scene, the characters, the motives and carefully prepare your line of questioning.
Could it be the mysterious Rose, former Hollywood actress whose career plummeted after the mysterious death of her ex-husband? Or perhaps Barts’ brother? Alfred Simon, a real wise guy, running for mayor and trying to defeat prohibition; but, with a mob boss and lawless liquor-slinger for a brother, who’s going to trust him? Wouldn’t it be easier to eradicate his murky past? To eradicate Uncle Barts? Or maybe it’s ‘sweet’ Missy Hawthorne; the southern belle with more brawn than any man you’ve met. Known to get what she wants and seen around the apartment more times than can be deemed coincidental, one must begin to wonder... Or perhaps Johnny Beaushaw, a notorious moonshiner, out cold on his own reserve? Who knows what he could be capable of when high on his own supply?
Do you have what it takes to separate the truth from the lies? Can you detect the subtleties of body language, alibi inconsistencies, or just possess that good ol’ gut feeling? Scribble down clues as you gather them, eventually forming what you believe to be the truth behind the Murder on the Barts Floor.
Afterwards, we’ll cool your nerves with a toast to the deceased and a complimentary cocktail from Barts’ Murderous menu, such as Beaushaw’s Bootleg, and Bloody Goodbyes. Then, sit back and enjoy as the venue transforms into what it’s best known for - a sizzling speakeasy.
