Join The Storytellers in the atmospheric old council chamber of the Town Hall hotel for an evening of performance storytelling for Valentine’s Day. Inspired by the decadence of the building and the vibrancy of the area, the stories delve into a beguiling world of love, violence and passion that has characterised this unique corner of London.
In the first half; a blind beggar throws down the gauntlet for the happiness of his child, a local prize-fighter’s tale packs a punch and a young First World War officer steps into a vampire's lair.
Then after sampling the hospitality of The Town Hall Hotel bar, the second half sees a young sculptor fall in love with his own creation. This story draws on the ancient myth of Pygmalion as life imitates art, imitates love in this, the most iconic of Edwardian tales....
Performers Claire Chate and Mark Knightley have a wealth of storytelling experience. Their stories for grownups aim for the theatrical and the intimate and are performed with humour, passion and charm.
