If you have a head for heights and extraordinary wines, join Searcys for a new series of one-off wine evenings at the top of the Gherkin. Celebratory dining packages in the suite of recently renovated private dining rooms now offer acclaimed fine wines from across the globe. These wines are carefully selected by Searcys at The Gherkin General Manager, Karim LeCloarec.
Sharing their knowledge in the world of wine, the private dining team have created five wine dinner themes for 2019. Kicking things off on 22 February, ‘Size Matters’, the first in the series, will showcase a range of distinctive wines aged in large bottles, and the importance of shape and size of glassware to mirror this and maximise the oenophile’s experience. The perfect opportunity to get a taste of The Gherkin’s sky high private dining room experience.
For the Size Matters dinner, guests are invited to join Karim, to taste his handpicked selection of large format wines. The evening will begin with a glass of Searcys own Cuvée, served in a traditional Champagne flute alongside a selection of canapés. The impressive magnum contains twice the volume of a standard bottle, but with the same neck size. This means that the Champagne matures slower and for a longer period of time, resulting in a more complex and harmonious taste.
A magnum of Pouilly-Fumé from renowned winemakers André Dezat will then accompany a starter of Cornish mackerel, golden beetroot, potato salad and squid ink. The seasonal main course will be a Rhug estate venison, served with celeriac, blackberries and hazelnuts. This will be paired with the outstanding Chateau la Tour, aged in Jeroboam bottles and served in large Bordeaux glasses. Taller than traditional red wine glass, the specially designed Bordeaux glasses allow the wine to proceed directly to the back of the mouth to maximize its taste. To finish off the evening, a selection of artisan British cheeses will be served with another Jeroboam of famed 10 year-old Alves de Sousa port. This exceptional LBV is only produced in the very finest years, a rare treat from this renowned producer with fine tannins, a pureness of fruit and leathery spice.

If the event is cancelled, please contact us for information on receiving a refund from the responsible party. If the event was moved or rescheduled, the venue or promoter may set refund limitations. It is your responsibility to ascertain the date and time of any rearranged event.
5. The venue reserves the right to refuse admission and may on occasion have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons.
6. Every effort to admit latecomers will be made at a suitable break in the event, but admission cannot always be guaranteed.
7. We regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase.
8. Tickets are sold subject to the venue or promoter's right to alter or vary the programme due to events or circumstances beyond its control without being obliged to refund monies or exchange tickets.
9. If this ticket is re-sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone other than the promoter, venue management, DesignMyNight or one of their authorised sub-agents, it will become voidable and the holder may be
refused entry to or ejected from the venue.
10. The venue may operate a No Smoking Policy.
