Antonin Carême (1783-1833) was the original celebrity chef, who cooked for Napoleon, The Prince Regent, the Tsar of Russia and the first French Rothschilds. He was also the first chef ever to become rich and famous, publishing cook books which revolutionised the way we eat and cook to this day. As well as being one of the founding fathers of French gastronomy, recording recipes that became classics a generation before Escoffier, Carême changed British culinary history too, cooking at Carlton House - George IV's town residence on the Pall Mall - just a stone's throw from the Century Club.

Join us on the roof terrace as Carême’s only English language biographer Ian Kelly - also the creator of the TV drama series on Carême currently in pre-production in Paris - takes you on a mouth watering  tour of Carême’s life and legacy. The Century's head chef Charlie Boyce will pay homage to Carême by recreating some of his most famous dishes. Each course will be intertwined with a narrative about the history of Carême. A veritable feast for the eye, stomach and brain.

What's included:

  • Three course dinner

  • A compelling narrative to the supper by Ian Kelly
