Pop-Up, Date Night, Food & Drink, Something A Little Different

Passionate pioneers of London’s artisan gin renaissance, Sipsmith, famous for its award-winning London Dry Gin, have teamed up with the stylish Ham Yard Hotel in the heart of Soho to serve gin-laced winter warmers on the hotel’s hidden roof terrace.  As the frost creeps in across London, wrap up in woollen blankets on the impeccably designed rooftop garden, enjoy sweeping views over the London skyline, and find yourself sipping on historically inspired hot gin serves including Hot G&T’s and Steaming Juleps.

Transporting the enchantment of London winters past to modern day, creative duo Sipsmith Master Distiller Jared Brownand Ham Yard Hotel bar manager Eoin Kenny have delved into London's drinking past – from as early as the 16th century right through to the 1920s – to craft a very modern sipping menu.  Warm serves will include The Smoking Bishop, a favourite of Charles Dickens; The Original, a pairing of gin with gingerbread, noted as the first London pairing during the Frost Fairs; and the Soho Gin Broth, which uses Barthelmas beef taken from a recipe dated 1664.

The pop-up will run from Tuesday 26th January until Sunday 14th February (excluding Mondays) in timed sessions.  Tickets cost £14 per person, which includes your first tipple on arrival and an introduction by one of the Sipsmith Distillery team.

Although booked purely for the desire to experience a rooftop bar, I was delighted by the entire experience! It was insightful and most of all obvious that a whole lot of effort had been made to ensure all guests were cosy and comfortable for the entire night Visited Ham Yard Hotel on 2016-02-13

My boyfriend and I came to this on Saturday and it was absolutely amazing! The cocktails were so good (and really interesting) and the service was impeccable. It was such a great setting to have the event and I would definitely come back if it was put on again. I couldn't fault the night in any way! What a great few hours we had up on the roof of the gorgeous Ham Yard Hotel. Despite the sub-zero conditions, the gin (and blankets) kept us warm. Loved to hear about the origins of the gorgeous cocktails and the little treats that accompanied each cocktail, were just delicious. Jared and his team were excellent. Thanks for a fun time. A magical tasting session up on Ham Yard's roof terrace with its beautiful lantern and fairy lights cosy decor. Delicious and unexpected warm concoctions with quirkily paired nibbles, all served up with great charm by wonderfully professional and friendly staff. Jared Brown, Sipsmith's own 'gin genie', served up delectable historic facts alongside the no-less delectable cocktails. A wonderful and unique experience we hope to repeat - either at Ham Yard or Sipsmith's Chiswick distillery. Visited Ham Yard Hotel on 2016-02-11

Great idea lovely cocktails, although i did get a bit chilly despite the heaters and blankets. I think it would have been a better atmosphere if guests either mingled or were introduced to each other. Visited Ham Yard Hotel on 2016-02-09

This pop up is fantastic, a must for any gin drinker! The staff and guys from Sipsmith are so knowledgable about the history of the company and the individual drinks. We tried every cocktail and enjoyed the accompaniments that went with them. If you're just looking to drink gin it could be done cheaper but if you're looking for something that's a bit different and a new experience I would definitely recommend this! Nice venue and potentially a good idea. Most of the cocktails were not great and the sides were expensive and undersized. Sipsmith is a good London Dry, although their sales patter wears thin. Drinks overpriced and portions were a third of a normal cocktail. Marketing over substance, won't rush back. Visited Ham Yard Hotel on 2016-01-30

Wow, love the hotel and the event! Never had hot gin until today. Smoking Bishop was my favourite and was fab to be able to taste different combinations and find out the history too - hope there are more events like this!
