Jacqueline is a national treasure and has written over a hundred books, adored by generations of readers. She will be in conversation with Kate Maxwell discussing her latest novel for adults, Picture Imperfect. A heartwarming and witty sequel to her beloved 1999 novel The Illustrated Mum, the book explores family, identity and the often messy journey of finding yourself.
Look forward to an evening of storytelling and conversation as Jacqueline shares the inspiration behind her new book, reflects on revisiting these much-loved characters, and explores its central themes. Following the discussion, there will be an opportunity for audience questions and book signing by Jacqueline. Picture Imperfect will also be available to purchase on the evening from BookBar.
Enjoy a two-course dinner and a glass of wine before or after the event with our special package priced at £55 per person.
About Picture
Imperfect
She’s
spent her life holding everything — and everyone — together. But
she's done being perfect.
Now it's time to be herself.
Dol Westward has always been the dependable one — the steady hand, the peacekeeper, the fixer. Especially when it comes to her unpredictable mother, Marigold. But after years of putting everyone else first, she’s starting to wonder what’s left for her.
When life begins to fray around the edges, Dol realises she’s been chasing an idea of perfection that was never really hers. Old habits, old expectations — they’re hard to break. But maybe imperfection is the only place she can finally feel free...
A story about family, identity, and the messy truth of finding yourself — from the beloved author who always writes real life, honestly told.
