Spend an afternoon exploring the timeless art of calligraphy during an intimate workshop in The Reading Room atThe Whitby Hotel. Learn from one of the industry’s most sought-after calligraphers, Stephanie Fishwick, known for her distinctive style, which blends traditional and experimental techniques. 

Stephanie will offer an introduction to pointed-pen calligraphy, guiding you through the foundations of the elegant Copperplate , from mastering the tools and techniques to creating graceful lettering of your own to treasure at home.

No experience is required, and all materials are provided and yours to keep, offering a unique opportunity to try your hand at a new skill. You will receive a complete calligraphy kit, including a pen holder, fine pointed nib, ink, guide sheets, and practice paper, allowing you to continue to practice at home and create your own handwritten letters, place cards, and more. 

After the workshop, enjoy The Whitby Bar’s intricately designed Kit Kemp Design Stories Afternoon Tea – the perfect way to complete an afternoon of creativity, craft and delightful conversation.


About Stephanie Fishwick:

Stephanie Fishwick is an artist and calligrapher whose work has reached clients worldwide. Founded in 2012, her studio first gained recognition for its intricately handcrafted and calligraphed invitations before expanding into a diverse creative practice spanning fashion, interiors, stationery, and bespoke keepsakes. Her work has been commissioned by notable brands and tastemakers including Moda Operandi, Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffany & Co., and the National Gallery of Art, and featured in leading publications including Vogue, Condé Nast Traveler, Architectural Digest, and Goop.

Rooted in the timeless traditions of calligraphy, Stephanie’s work draws inspiration from the golden age of lettering, nature, fairy tales, and traditional decorative arts. Beyond paper, her creations extend across couture and ready-to-wear, wallpaper, tableware, luggage, jewelry boxes, and handcrafted books. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts, Stephanie continues to create from her studio in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she lives with her husband James, son Jarvis, and their Scottish Fold cats.

3. Please check your tickets, as mistakes cannot always be rectified.
4. Occasionally, events are cancelled or postponed by the promoter, team, performer or venue for a variety of reasons. If the event is cancelled, please contact us for information on receiving a refund from the responsible party. If the event was moved or rescheduled, the venue or promoter may set refund limitations. It is your responsibility to ascertain the date and time of any rearranged event.
5. The venue reserves the right to refuse admission and may on occasion have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons.

7. We regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase.
8. Tickets are sold subject to the venue or promoter's right to alter or vary the programme due to events or circumstances beyond its control without being obliged to refund monies or exchange tickets.
9. If this ticket is re-sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone other than the promoter, venue management, DesignMyNight or one of their authorised sub-agents, it will become voidable and the holder may be
refused entry to or ejected from the venue.
