A Live, Illustrated Zoom Talk with Christopher Josiffe

In this talk, librarian Christopher Josiffe will uncover the work of the famous psychical investigator, Dr Eric Dingwall and his research into ghosts, spirits, spiritualist mediums, disembodied limbs and ectoplasm.
Dr Eric Dingwall (1892 - 1986) worked as Honorary Assistant Keeper in the Reference Division of the British Library, cataloguing private case material of erotica, sexuality, magic and the paranormal he earned himself him the nickname of "Dirty Ding”. Under these auspices, he became the honorary vice-president for The Magic Circle and a founding member of its Occult Committee.
He was also a leading member of the Society for Psychical Research and travelled widely in Europe and the USA in the 1920s and 30s investigating mediums and approaching the study of the paranormal, seeking a high standard of proof and always unafraid of exposing frauds and charlatans.
Through his work at Senate House Library, Christopher Josiffe, has been examining Dr Dingwall’s voluminous archives for several years and in this illustrated talk he will give us access to this amazing collection.

4. Occasionally, events are cancelled or postponed by the promoter, team, performer or venue for a variety of reasons. If the event is cancelled, please contact us for information on receiving a refund from the responsible party. If the event was moved or rescheduled, the venue or promoter may set refund limitations. It is your responsibility to ascertain the date and time of any rearranged event.
5. The venue reserves the right to refuse admission and may on occasion have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons.
6. Every effort to admit latecomers will be made at a suitable break in the event, but admission cannot always be guaranteed.
7. We regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase.
