CIL
South London born singer and sound artist CIL uses a blend of spoken and sung poetry, and live electronics to communicate aspects of her identity. Collaborating with a range of local artists, she has been developing her live set, playing opening sets for the likes of Moses Boyd and the Life Between Islands exhibition at Tate Britain. Her most recent creation is Juniper - an electronic MIDI instrument she built during lockdown, reactive to motion on either side of her body, a tool through which CIL manipulates sounds, from her voice, to synthesis, to other live instrumentalists.
FEEO
Channelling a unique combination of styles and influences, feeo situates storytelling at the core of her practice. feeo’s debut EP ‘feels like we’re getting older doesn’t it’ was released in June 2021. Across four tracks, the project interrogates the tensions of contemporary existence via themes of mortality, intimacy and loss.
AUCLAIR
On her new EP Giramata, British-Rwandan music and sound artist Auclair explores themes of transmutation, each song opens up a space for things to change from one state to another - a process that’s brought to life in the raw and sinuous energy of her voice, layers of warping synths and the tactile immediacy of drum hits. Here the spaces left by ghost notes are given as much weight as the ones charged up with bold polyrhythms, shifting sounds form a mythological pathway into something transcendental yet everyday. She collaborated with producer Kwes (Warp) and multidisciplinary artists Dark Angel Services. Giramata is out now on Amorphous Sounds
