”Multi-instrumentalist & Songwriter James Sayer will be joined by his band for an evening of Rhythm & Blues."

James Sayer's music has been heavily supported by BBC radio over the past two years and he continues to tour with his band all over Europe. Hear multi instrumentalist James in this intimate setting on Friday 19/Saturday 20 October. Expect a very upbeat show with lots of singing and dancing!

James Sayer is a pianist, singer songwriter, saxophonist guitarist, session player and recording artist, originally from Birmingham, UK. His fascination with and love of music began at a very young age when he learnt all things Rock ‘n’ Roll through discovering artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Elton John and Billy Joel.

After moving to London, James finished his debut track ‘Taking Back My Love’ in December 2015. This single demonstrates musical passion at its finest. With the tones of Jerry Lee Lewis, Elton John, & the Boogie-Woogie master Jools Holland. James decided to upload it to BBC Introducing. The track was immediately picked up and made ‘Track of the Week’ by BBC 3 Counties, which has seen the likes of Jack Garratt and James Bay come through its station.

James followed up his radio performance with two sell out debut shows with his band in February; the first in his hometown in the West Midlands and the second at Servant Jazz Quarters, London. In February ‘Taking Back My Love’ was passed onto a Dutch DJ of legendary station ‘Radio Veronica’. James was invited to play in Holland with his band and the show was broadcast live on radio. James’ track was then play listed for three weeks on Dutch Radio 2 and Sublime FM, as well as various other smaller stations.

In 2017, James achieved his first BBC Radio 2 airplay with his follow up single Sweet Baby Jane. ‘Sweet Baby Jane’ was produced by Grammy winning producer Matt Lawrence (Mumford & Sons, Van Morrison). It features some of the world’s best session musicians: Ian Thomas (Eric Clapton, Dire Straits); Robbie McIntosh (Paul McCartney, John Mayer); Steve Pearce (Van Morrison); Vula Malinga (Basement Jaxx). The whole recording process saw James record his music with everyone live in the room.

Back in the studio, James began working on his follow up single Givin’ it All For Free. This was heavily supported by BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 6, with legendary DJ Tom Robinson saying about the track ‘When you hear a track like that, obviously the song maybe inspired by early Van Morrison but I personally haven’t witnessed Van Morrison deliver anything close to that kind of energy and punch on stage in the last thirty years, so my tip to fellow Van fans is save £100 on the ticket price and go and see James Sayer instead’. 2018 saw James continue to appear at festivals and concerts all over the UK. His follow up single will be released in October 2018. James can also be seen performing at his London residency The American Bar, Savoy Hotel.

"Hearing James Sayer's music gives me faith that there are true singer/songwriter/musicians keeping the tradition of great songwriting and performing alive. We're going to be hearing a lot from this great artist!"
