For fans of A Christmas Carol and the timeless world of Charles Dickens, this is your chance to step straight into the spirit of the season and walk through London as Dickens himself would have known it more than 150 years ago. Join us for a festive journey into the fog, the lamplight and the bustling streets that shaped his imagination and inspired him to create characters as dark, joyous and complex as Scrooge, Jacob Marley and the Cratchit family.

Beginning at Farringdon Station, we will wander through the hidden alleyways and winding passageways around Holborn. Along the way, we will revisit the haunts and landmarks familiar to Dickens’s most memorable creations, from Oliver Twist and Fagin to David Copperfield and Sarah Gamp, uncovering the real locations that fed Dickens’s fascination with poverty, generosity, wickedness and redemption.

This is London at Christmas through Dickens’s eyes: atmospheric, lively and just a little bit haunted.

Jenny hosted a brilliant discussion on the neuroscience of zombies, exploring their historical roots in mythology to pop-culture representations, with wit and sensitivity. Her assessment of the scientific rationale behind different zombie outbreaks was charmingly morbid, and a perfect way to cap off the London Month of the Dead!

A fantastic talk delivered in a fantastic venue! Dr Jenny Lange’s impressive knowledge of zombie myths and pop culture was matched by her clear expertise as a neuroscientist. Learning about the biology of zombies and real-life zombie organisms was fascinating. I’d love to attend more of her talks in the future!
