19:00 - 22:30
Live Music, Clubbing, Something A Little Different
Live Music
Over 18

You’re invited to join in the Campfire Club! In time-honoured fashion we will gather around roaring blazes enveloped in music and entertainment. High spirits will be maintained with good ol’ sing-a-longs, storytelling, special guests and who knows what else. Every fire will be a unique event with a magic concoction of spontaneity, rare talents and the unknown, all drenched in the sepia tones of firelight and tinged with wooded aromas.

**Please Note: The concerts are all outside and all weather affairs thus full waterproofs are highly recommended and warm clothes. A full bar will be stocked with home-made wines, ciders, ales and the odd drop of mead too!

I arrived a little late, feeling slightly out of sync with the slightly po-faced atmosphere. I bought a bottle of mead spelled 'meade' and sat directly downwind of the fire, which was regularly topped up with unseasoned wood and produced thick, pungent smoke. Some musicians played. They were very quiet, so the audience was very quiet, but the passing traffic and sirens and overhead aeroplanes were not so quiet. Either way the closeness and hushed-ness was oppressive; I felt an overwhelming desire to swear or break wind. Instead I tried to focus on the musicians. It took a while to work it out, but I eventually realised that they were singing about a person that they loved very much. I listened more carefully, and eventually realised that the person was god. Nowhere on the website had it indicated that this was a religious event. I felt duped, and weirdly trapped. I didn't stay very long. Jacob visited Campfire CLub on 12 May 2016
