Join us at the National Maritime Museum, on the lawns of the Queen's House, for a very royal occasion.

Sofia Coppola takes the unique eye she cast over alienated Americans in Japan in Lost In Translation and teenage girls in The Virgin Suicides, and tells the tale of one of the most notorious figures in history - Marie Antoinette, the French queen with an alleged contempt for the poor and a taste for the finer things in life.

In classic Coppola style, Marie Antoinette is a "a sexy, dynamic romp" (Ian Freer, Empire), with an all-star cast, riotously anachronistic soundtrack and dazzling scenes of food, shoes, clothes and wigs. If only all history lessons could be this fun!

The evening will include a performance from the London Oriana Choir, one of the city’s leading singing groups. Be sure to join us for some "thrilling vocal pyrotechnnics”(Evening Standard)

A new venue for this year, the National Maritime Museum is nestled at the heart of Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site and is one of four iconic venues of the Royal Museums Greenwich. We’re delighted to be screening on the lawns of The Queen’s House, which provides a unique historic setting with unrivalled views of picturesque Greenwich Park, the home of Greenwich Mean Time and The Royal Observatory.

A site with prestigious Royal connections that reach back to the Tudor period, it is easy to imagine monarchs of the past walking and hunting in the grounds. The Queen’s House in its current form is famous for being the first Classical building in England and celebrates its 400th anniversary in 2016. You might recognise it one of the locations in Ang Lee’s period favourite Sense and Sensibility.

PLEASE NOTE: for public safety and environmental reasons, glass is not permitted anywhere on the grounds. If bringing a picnic, please bring plastic cups and plastic bottles instead. Many thanks.

ACCESS
Enjoy your trip to Greenwich by rail or river. It takes no time at all. The site is just 10 minutes from central London by rail, or make the journey part of the fun and arrive by boat.
