Following the success of last year's screening of The Cabinet of Dr Caligari and Nosferatubefore that, The Nomad Cinema, Old Street Partnership and LSO St Lukes have once again teamed up with live score musical geniuses The Cabinet of Living Cinema, to create a unique performance of the 1929 classic The Man With A Movie Camera.

This year celebrates the 90th anniversary of Dziga Vertov’s fabulous silent movie. The film documents city life in Russia told through a dazzling mix of imagery and experimental film techniques. We are taken from Moscow to Kiev through the eyes of the camera man in Vertov's formative iconic film.

This classic is scored for the first time by inspired live score musicians - the Cabinet of Living Cinema who recently produced the masterful live scores for us for Nosferatu and The Cabinet of Dr Caligari.

The Cabinet of Living Cinema create live cinema events in unusual and inspiring locations.  They have scored films by Svankmajer, Jodorowsky, Fritz Lang, Eisenstein and Paradjanov using loop pedals, “found object foley” and orchestral instruments.

The screening takes place within the walls of the beautiful, deconsecrated Old Street Church, St Luke’s. Now the home for the London Symphony Orchestra, this space is regularly filled with music from the muses. Under this architectural beacon of Old Street, with its spire that rivals the heights of the more contemporary buildings, lies a crypt of over 1000 burials.

The film will be a live musical performance over the original film.

This Screening is supported by The Old Street Partnership.
