Description
Join us for an immersive and transformative experience as
Hekayyatna, in partnership with Seenaryo, invites participants to
explore the profound role of theatre in fostering healing and
empowerment within marginalised communities.
In a world where many voices go unheard, participatory theatre becomes a powerful tool—a stage where stories of resilience, pain, and hope can be brought to life. Together, we will ask the essential question: How can we use theatre to not only tell these stories but also to help communities heal from the wounds of displacement, marginalisation, and loss? Guided by the expertise of Seenaryo, a Lebanese organisation renowned for its work in using theatre and play to support refugees and marginalised groups, this workshop will be both reflective and hands-on.
We will also be screening TILKA, an intimate portrait of five women who meet to create an original play with Seenaryo amid Lebanon’s collapse. The film weaves together each woman’s individual story with a collective narrative of displacement, motherhood and hope.
Come prepared to participate, share, and learn in a supportive environment where every story matters.
All profits from this event will go towards supporting Seenaryo's emergency relief work in Lebanon
. With thousands of people left stranded, Lebanese communities are struggling to find safety: they urgently need shelter, transportation to safe areas, winter clothing, mattresses and fuel for heating. Beyond today, people in Lebanon will need more than just shelter and food. They will also need dignity, hope and a space to heal. With enough funds, Seenaryo can support the relief effort by connecting communities who are stranded to basic necessities; implement play-based learning activities with children whose education is on hold; and run theatre for psychosocial support to offer coping mechanisms to displaced communities.
About Seenaryo: Working in Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine, Seenaryo uses theatre and play to support people to heal, lead and learn. We co-create performances with under-served communities, train future leaders and transform classrooms through play. Reaching 155,000 children, youth and women since 2015, Seenaryo won the Arts, Culture & Heritage prize at the 2023 UK Charity Awards, received a 2023 Innovation Award from TheirWorld and was one of Expo 2020 Dubai’s 120 Global Innovators.
