Brother Marcus is launching monthly Greek wine tasting evenings with paired food at their Spitalfields
Market restaurant in collaboration with Greek suppliers, Maltby & Greek. Kicking off on Wednesday the 11th
of August guests will try seven different wines accompanied by Eastern Mediterranean-inspired small plates
that have been handpicked by the Brother Marcus chefs to complement the wines tasted. For those missing
out on a summer holiday head to Spitalfields and let Brother Marcus transport you to the Greek islands.

For the first evening Maltby & Greek, who supply the best produce from across Greece directly from small
producers, have chosen seven sun-filled wines from around the country; two whites, two rosé, two Greek
sparkling wines and one chilled red. Guests will start with a glass of Alpha Estate Malagouzia followed by
Santo Santorini Assyrtiko, Mylonas Rosé, Ousyra Fokiano Rose, Domaine Karanika Brut Cuvee Speciale,
Chatzivaritis Estate ‘Migma’ PetNat and finally Chatzivaritis Estate Negoska Carbonic.

Brother Marcus has created a menu to accompany the chosen wines that will remind Londoners of
summers spent eating in tavernas looking out across blue water. Starting off with in-house pickled veg and
marinated olives in preserved lemon, chilli and rosemary; houmous with smoked paprika chickpeas; fennel
tzatziki with Aleppo chilli; smokey aubergine baba ganoush with preserved lemon and some homemade
toasted fluffy pita to dip in. Moving onto the rosé and fried corn ribs with smoked chilli and lime aioli, the
slight hint of spice and citrus brings out the freshness of the rosé. To pair with the sparkling wines Brother
Marcus have chosen a classic combination of cheese and bubbles and will serve their triple cheese pide, a
savoury Turkish baked bread, with a tapenade stuffed crust. The bread is filled with Manouri, a baked
Thessalian cheese, baked ricotta and grated graviera which comes from Crete and is similar to a gruyère. To
finish off guests will try some of Brother Marcus famed kefir fried chicken with lime leaves, paprika and
romesco sauce, who doesn’t love fried chicken and red wine.

As guests sip wines the sommelier from Maltby & Greek will give a few facts about each wine, where it
comes from and its process. Enjoy these summer wines surrounded by hanging greenery, terracotta tiles
and rattan furniture as Brother Marcus brings the flavours of the Eastern Mediterranean to London.

The next Greek wine evening will be held on Wednesday 25th August. Maltby & Greek will offer anyone that attends a voucher for 20% off online.
