"And in the autumn, when you gather the grapes of your vineyards for the winepress, say in your heart, I too am a vineyard, and my fruit shall be gathered for the winepress, and like new wine I shall be kept in eternal vessels. And in winter, when you draw the wine, let there be in your heart a song for each cup; And let there be in the song a remembrance for the autumn days, and for the vineyard, and for the winepress.”

Kahlil Gibran - Lebanese national poet

Join us for the first tasting of its kind, featuring 5 carefully chosen premium wines from war zones in Ukraine, Lebanon and Syria.

Through your ticket you will:

- Support winemakers working in extreme conditions to preserve their traditions against all the odds on the frontlines of war in Ukraine, Lebanon and Syria.

- Learn what it is like to make wine in a war zone, and directly help these producers through your ticket and attendance.

- Experience the rare opportunity to try unusual and premium wines from lesser-known regions, exclusively made available by Food of War. Learn how these winemakers are resisting the devastation of war and reinventing the millennial winemaking history of their regions.

- Try unique grape varieties, including the indigenous white Lebanese grapes Obeidi and rare Merweh from 150-year old vines, recently saved from the brink of extinction. From Ukraine, taste amphora orange wine from the Rkatsiteli grape, and the country’s signature red grape Odesa Black. Finally, savour the rarest wine of all from Syria’s only commercial winery, a Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah blend from the highlands above the port city of Latakia.

- Enjoy thoughtfully prepared bites from Ukrainian, Lebanese and Syrian cuisine that complement the wines and celebrate the culinary heritage of their homelands.

Through your attendance, you will enjoy an exclusive tasting of these rare and premium finds, while directly supporting the winemakers and the work of Food of War, a London-based art collective and charity. Be part of a conversation that transcends the bottle and celebrates the unbreakable connection between land, people, and culture.

The tasting will be at Housmans Bookshop, a 5 minute walk from King's Cross Station.

We look forward to seeing you there!
