The Chap Olympiad is Britain’s most eccentric garden party, welcoming only the elegant and the unathletic to this world famous “celebration of sporting ineptitude and immaculate trouser creases”.

Since its humble beginnings somewhere in the corner of a field in England (which we can’t reveal for legal reasons), the Chap Olympiad has provided track, field and bar events for the floppy of hair, the rakish of trilby and the elegant of trouser.

The Chap Olympiad is a celebration of Britain’s sporting ineptitude: sensational cravats take precedence over sweaty lycra; more points are awarded for maintaining immaculate trouser creases than crossing the finishing line. Taking place in a leafy central London square, The Chap Olympics is a gathering place for the most eccentrically dressed sportsmen and sportswomen of the nation.

DRESS CODE: elegant finery, military wear, formal wear, dandy wear.

No sportswear please except cricket whites and absolutely no denim.

The Chap Olympiad requests that all patrons refrain from bringing alcohol to the event.

Loved it! The Olympiad event was very enjoyable, marks deducted for - a) poor soft drinks options (other than mixers at the bars) & lack of hot drinks, b) no running water in the toilets, a lady dispensing cleaning gel (requiring a tip) did not cut it. Both easy to put right & I look forward to giving you 5 stars next year :-) visited Bedford Square Gardens on 15 Jul 2017

Hi, our group travvled from Nottingham and thouroughly enjoyed the day and people we met! Only gripe was that we were told no dogs allowed and there were many there - an exspensive dogsitter was booked and my little pooch would have loved the day! Whilst the entertainment was good, little time to register involvement if travelling from far and there could have been a few more interactive activities on the groud to take part in - a bit hard to hear/see stage if quite far away. More penny fathrings etc... However the lack of that meant I walked around and got to know other guests! Finally - you ran out of red wine - a 1920 travesty! A lovely event, I am a. freelance photographer and had a very successful take. Bedford Square is a great setting, a well organised party lots of fashionable people with style and panache. Compare/and organiser of the games did a great job. James visited Bedford Square Gardens on 15 Jul 2017

Great event to attend as a hen group - lots of fun dressing up, lovely location and atmosphere. It was a nice touch to have our own picnic. Perhaps a better time if they played music throughout or had a band on for those who were not involved with the games .The games were the focus of the event, but not everyone could hear or see, and just wanted to have a dance! visited Bedford Square Gardens on 15 Jul 2017

An excellent little event full of like minded people wishing to recreate a bygone age of sophistication and comportment. The events were quirky and individual, but always with that element of amusement. One downside however was although the event stated till 21:00 the bars closed at 19:30 and we were rather brashly hurried out of the event with 20 minutes notice at 20:00. visited Bedford Square Gardens on 15 Jul 2017

The elements organised by The Chap - the games, the event's philosophy, the participants - were, as always, excellent. However, the money-grabbing approach taken by Bourne & Hollingsworth has marred this previously unmissable day - the last minute banning of soft drinks despite previous assurances that attendees could bring these along; overpriced, weak and unimaginative cocktails; and ever-increasing ticket price are all examples of the dark side of corporate involvement. Bring back the tea/coffee tent please! Toilet attendendents unnecessary. Other than that, brilliant event as usual - love the addition of WI tent :) (jive lessons on stage as a interval entertainment maybe in the future?) :) visited Bedford Square Gardens on 15 Jul 2017

Loved the atmosphere and dressing up. Food and drinks pretty pricey. Compere fabulous, very funny and engaging. Some competitions funny, some just too silly/pointless which meant we lost interest. An interesting experience but wouldn't go again. visited Bedford Square Gardens on 15 Jul 2017

It was great fun! The games, food and drinks, and most importantly the delightfully colourful and quirky outfits and meeting the lovely people wearing them. I only wish that there could be a designated area for smokers, so that the people who were watching the activities or the children were not exposed to the fumes from the person sitting or standing next to them. I realise they could smoke in a open space but some many people in such small area made it a little bit uncomfortable to breathe. visited Bedford Square Gardens on 15 Jul 2017

Absolutely fantastic as always! Love the attitude and atmosphere. Space was well laid out, good range of stalls and wares. Ringmaster was brilliant. Jousting, tea pursuit and cox were favourites but some of the other events were maybe not suitable spectator entertainment - the toe wrestling in particular was a bit of a dud. Also, was a shame that most of the professional photographers and the toilet attendant were in ordinary jeans and t-shirts. But otherwise was a brilliant event and wonderful day out and we're looking forward to next year already! visited Bedford Square Gardens on 15 Jul 2017

It was everything I hoped for!! I'd seen it on you tube and was determined to cross the Atlantic to attend this year. We all had the most marvelous time -- London and England at their finest! Please be aware that since the initial ticket details, and personal emails to the contrary, they are Not Allowing Soft Drinks in to the venue either. This has upset some ticket holders as the cost of refreshments inside is quite high.
