Description
Porridge & Knowledge
Nestled in a quiet enclave in the heart of East London, Porridge & Knowledge is the Saturday morning Campfire Club that brings inspiring speakers and spirited musicians to your breakfast table.
Porridge & Knowledge offers a social environment for the local community, a place where old and young can congregate, learn, and breakfast side-by-side. Twice a month we’ll be joined by a host of world-shaping guests, ready to share their tales of ancient journeys, musical crusades, and groups and individuals that fearlessly chose to paddle against the flow.
With hungry minds and hungry ears come hungry bellies, so our Nest Collective team will be on hand to fuel your experience, dishing up a bottomless pot of exciting oaty inventions. With a smorgasbord of savoury and sweet toppings available, Porridge & Knowledge is the perfect way to shake off the week’s stresses. As if that’s not enough to kick-start your Saturday, we’ll also be laying unlimited coffees and teas to boot. ‘Cause we’re nice like that.
Porridge & Knowledge kicks off on Saturday 7th October, and will continue into the autumn. Join us for family-friendly mornings packed with stories, ideas, and songs: a place for locals to gather, relax, and discover.

Founder and CEO of 38Degrees David Babbs
David works with other groups, charities and individuals to build our people powered movement. Sometimes he talks about our campaigns on the TV and radio. David makes sure that our campaigns are led by our members and achieve real impact.
David has been obsessed with people power ever since the Iraq war in 2003. He went on the big march against the war, and hated it when the people who’d told him it wouldn’t make a difference were proved right. He’s been interested in ways of making people power count more ever since.
David grew up in Leicester, and now lives in East London. Outside work, he volunteers on a community project near where he lives and likes cycling, gardening and cooking.

The twist is her winning the acclaimed amateur night at the Apollo in Harlem, gaining a MOBO award nomination and getting airplay on BBC Radio 1 & BBC 1Xtra.
