Experience this year's hit movie under the stars!
This sumptuous fable about otherness is set against the sinistre backdrop of Cold War America, circa 1962. The proxy princess is dreamy, mute cleaner, Elisa (Sally Hawkins); the handsome prince is a shimmeringly scaled Creature from the Black Lagoon; and the villian's role fits the evil military scientist (Michael Shannon) like a glove. Elisa exists happily enough in a world of her own, but when she is tasked with mopping up the floor of the top secret research lab, she is beguiled by the sinuous creature imprisoned in the water tank. As in all good fairy tales True Love has many obstacles to overcome, but a shared appreciation for Jazz and a love of hard boiled eggs helps, here!
Director Guillermo del Toro says he has relied on the company of monsters since childhood. He believes that monsters help "make sense of our blissful imperfections." Anyone familiar with his Spanish Civil War-set Pan's Labyrinth knows that del Toro approaches his weighty themes through the fine gauze of fantasy. In The Shape of Water though, he permits himself a more traditional fairy tale ending, and it's very welcome! It is not just us who have been utterly charmed by this; it won the Golden Lion at Venice Film Festival, and it has topped the table for Oscar nominations. See why for yourself.
This screening will be in our very own beautiful Queens Park - the local park to the Nomad and the Lexi, our Cine Sister. There are no headphones at this event.

The Nomad Cinema is the roaming pop-up that gives back: since 2010, The Nomad has earned the reputation as ‘London’s best outdoor cinema’ [Evening Standard], popping up at an inspiring range of beautiful, unique and intriguing screening locations across London and beyond.
The Nomad is about community: our sister cinema is the acclaimed and much-loved independent boutique cinema The Lexi in Kensal Rise, London NW10. Both cinemas are partly run by dedicated volunteers and have developed partnerships with a diverse range of kindred cultural organisations, ethical companies and fairtrade suppliers.
Nomad film events embrace and enhance each venue, offering new ways of experiencing an uplifting range of films, from classics, cult and indie to mainstream guilty pleasures. With its low impact set up, The Nomad wanders into town, unpacks cinema magic, then disappears into the night, leaving no trace.

T&Cs
1. The ticket holder voluntarily assumes all risks and danger incidental to the event for which the ticket is issued, whether occurring prior, during or after the event. The ticket holder voluntarily agrees that the management, venue, event participants, DesignMyNight (WFL Media Ltd) and all of their respective agents, officers, directors, owners and employers are expressly released by the ticket holder from any claims arising from such causes.

It is your responsibility to ascertain the date and time of any rearranged event.
5. The venue reserves the right to refuse admission and may on occasion have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons.
6. Every effort to admit latecomers will be made at a suitable break in the event, but admission cannot always be guaranteed.
7. We regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase.
