It is our great pleasure and honour to announce this upcoming concert with the legendary Kevin G. Davy. What's more, our kitchen re-opens the same evening, so get down early, book your table for dinner with a stage view and enjoy a living legend musician this January!
Best known for international touring and recording with Lamb, Adam F, Two Banks of Four, Lemn Sissay (Secret Society), as well as his own groups, KDQ and D'semble, Davy's legacy is as flawless as his musical virtuosity. He has performed at the Montreaux and North Sea Jazz Festivals, as well as New York's revered Summerstage, in central park, Manhattan. Over recent years Davy's group has played most of the main London jazz stages, such as: the Ealing Jazz Festivals, the Jazz Cafe, Ronnie Scott's, Soho's Pizza Express Jazz Clubs, The Vortex, and the Spice of Life.
According to styles and genres in Jazz and music generally, Davy has worked across a wide variety of styles, throughout Europe, with artists such as Pibo Marquez (Venezuela), Sangoma Everett (USA/France), Shiek Tidiane Sek (Mali/France), Kresimir Debski (Poland), Roman Rahout Poland) Paul Shigihara (Japan/Germany), and Doudou Gouirand (France) to name but a few. Davy's trumpet has featured on albums by Japanese producer Sugizo (Truth?), and (Grand Cross), US vocalist Melissa Kaplan, The Crass Collective, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Ashley and Jackson, Chapter and the Verse, Adamski, Unabombers, The Aliens, and in Germany on tours with Afrika Afrika. Also Kevin Davy has toured internationally with the celebrated vocalist; Finley Quaye, and Cymande.
Davy tends towards the modal approach to jazz and improvised music, citing influences such as trumpeters Hannibal Lokumbe, Lester Bowie, Don Cherry, Tomasz Stanko, Nils Molvaer Pederson, John Hassel, and others. He is joining us in the living room to two sets of jazz standards and originals, starting from 10pm.
GW Jazz FM's Gordon Wedderburn joins us on the decks from 8pm, playing also between sets and until 1:30am
