JOHN ROBERTSON

“A manic and quick-witted revelation” – The Scotsman
John Robertson is a comedian, making money out of that particularly odd art form since 2002.
He’s also a TV presenter, columnist, multimedia artist, games designer, crowd-surfer  and recreational sadist.
He first came to public attention in 2003, when he went down to Australian Idol and faked a seizure on national television.
In 2012, he created “The Dark Room”, a viral YouTube hit-turned-live show, which now tours the world as a theatre show and corporate entertainment.
In 2013, he left his beloved Wai-Con (Australia’s best anime convention) and moved to the UK. He crowd-surfed to celebrate.
As of 2014, he co-hosts Sky’s “Videogame Nation”, the UK’s only dedicated gaming TV show.
His kick-ass clothes are made by Gallery Serpentine
STAND-UP“**** his material is edgy, intelligent and smoothly-delivered… this is astute, amoral stand-up for the morbidly inclined” – The Age
Starting comedy in 2003, he left his day job in 2008 (fired) to do comedy full-time (much better), quickly establishing himself as an in-demand club headliner and event MC (money). From 2008 – 2010, he was the Australian tour support for Mark Watson, Wayne Brady and Rob Schneider, before making his debut at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2010. His show that year, “A Nifty History of Evil” won the Critic’s Choice Award at the Wild West Comedy Festival, established his UK cult following and brought him to the front page of the BBC News website.
Since 2010, he’s toured the Netherlands, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Singapore, the Phillipines and Hong Kong, performed corporate shows for the BBC, 7thingsmedia, EB Games Australia, the Australian Web Awards, Game and Rio Tinto – and worked in clubs around the planet, including Glee, Off The Kerb, Jongleurs, The Stand, Sydney Comedy Store, Sit-Down Comedy Club, The Mic In Hand, Local Laughs, Spleen Bar, Brisbane Powerhouse, Happy Endings Sydney, The Laugh Resort, Lazy Susan’s Comedy Den, Purple Cactus, Baby Blue Banana Budapest, Komedia, The Comedy Lounge, The Rhino Room, His Majesty’s Theatre (Perth), Funhouse Comedy, NCF Comedy, Eminent Banter, The Comedy Club, Soho Comedy Club, Top Secret Comedy Club, The Comic’s Lounge, The Old Manly Boatshed, The Comedy Hour, Packsaddle Comedy, Enmore Theatre and Leicester Square Theatre.
Critical Acclaim “A manic and quick-witted revelation… if you only see one Perth-born set this year, make it John Robertson.” – The Scotsman, “a ridiculously entertaining hour” – Kate Copstick, “***** – if your tastes run to the dark, you must see this show – British Comedy Guide, **** “stylish, alternative, funny” – Chortle, “Brilliant, bemusing and bloodthirsty” – Metro, “A cult is born” – Bruce Dessau, “That he’s a skilled stand-up is plain to see”-The List, “A hotly- tipped comedian for a good reason… he strides onto the stage giving precisely zero fucks”- The Skinny, “**** a triumph” – Herald Sun
