Whether you like traditional London dry style, new-school botanicals, or something that's just plain weird

THE HISTORY OF GIN TASTING. ONLY £50PP, £90 for 2, only £38 on March 20th.

Whether you like traditional London dry style, new-school botanicals, or something that's just plain weird

Including 6 artisanal gins and cocktail snacks rom The Cork and Bottle

After a cold whisky winter, gin is legitimately back in fashion, with distilleries all over the world crafting versions of this centuries-old spirit that capture the character of the individual locales from which they derive. Gin is mother’s ruin no more, and this shift has been a long time in the making. The old guard still distills London dry-style gin in the U.K. The main rules of this designation are that juniper must be the dominant flavor (as it is for all gin) and botanicals must flavor the gin during distillation, with no flavor or color added afterwards. (London dry gin does not, in fact, have to be made in London). This tasting features modern examples of the different styles of gin from its origin in Holland, through London bathtubs of the 17th century, to its modern exotic array of botanicals and fruits from all over the world.

What's Included?

  • Learn the history of this  from your entertaining host, while, of course, enjoying:
  • 6 exotic gins from artisanal producers
  • A surprise cocktail, as well as tonic as required, with appropriate garnishes, and
  • A selection of hand-made cocktail snacks lovingly prepared by The Cork and Bottle
  • An overview of distillation and blending
  • And different styles of gin and botanicals

Really fun night. The wines were really good. Not a massaive fan of tapas but that didn't matter. Really small room on long table conducive to speaking to others - met some really nice people. Highly recommend Gilbert, the venue and the wines.

It was a very informative evening and the host was clearly very knowledgeable and answered our multitude of questions. The wine selection was good and cheese lovely, just not enough of both! Was a good evening and came away with lots of new information even though I have been to a few tastings before which was nice.
