Classes, Comedy, Something A Little Different

Angel Comedy is very excited to be the first and only comedy club in London to work with the World Renowned SECOND CITY** Currently, Angel Comedy is offering 4 Second City courses in Improv and Sketch.

The Improv Program is a complete foundation in the principles of scenic improvisation as practiced at The Second City. Based in the work of Viola Spolin, this five level program covers all elements of the improvisational process. Students begin in Level A with ensemble, continuing with environment and object work, and end in Level E by rehearsing and performing a fully-improvised show.

Improv Level A: Ensemble and Play
Improv Level A is the first class in the beginner improv program at The Second City. These classes are for anyone who wants to learn how to improvise, including people who want to do improv for fun, to better their professional skills, or to eventually pursue it professionally. In Level A, students start to learn the skills needed to create strong improvised scenes. Some of these skills include building ensemble, giving and taking focus, object work, and, one of the most crucial fundamentals of improv, the concept of “yes, and.” Students get up and play a variety of exercises and games, many developed by Viola Spolin, whose son, Paul Sills, was one of the founders of The Second City. These exercises and games train the analytical side of the brain to focus on simple goals, freeing the creative side and silencing the negative thoughts that can make us freeze in performance (or in life, for that matter). These games are high energy cooperation and a ton of fun to play.

No prior experience in theatre or improv is required.

**http://www.secondcity.com/ The Second City opened its doors on a snowy Chicago night in December of 1959, and has since grown to become the world’s premier comedy club, theatre and school of improvisation—with live shows every night in Chicago, Toronto and Hollywood.

Organiser

Angel Comedy

Angel Comedy is an established comedy club, running 7 nights a week in Angel. From pro nights packed with Angel favourites (and TV names making secret appearances) to our famous new act / new material nights, Angel Comedy is Always Funny, and Always Free. Yes, we are London's Free Comedy club. We believe everyone should be able to see comedy. Also, you should be able to pay what you think it is worth and what you can afford. We are unique in this, which also means we often sell out. We also understand some people like to reserve space and don't mind paying a bit in advance. As such, some of our events are completely free, some you can purchase/prebook. Regardless, every performance will have at least 20 seats for every show to be free entry (pay what you want). If tickets and reservations are sold out online, we will still have seats available on the night. To see how many, please check our website or call the venue for more information (http://www.angelcomedy.co.uk/).
