Metallic Foiling Workshop

Nicole will be providing the Heat Press, for this workshop the press will heat up to 140 degrees. You will experiment using textile metallic foiling on your items of clothing - cottons, linens, leather, silk and suede. Your task is to find interesting clothing and fabric from home, your local charity shop or car boot sale. Please bring 2-3 items to transform, such as a shirt, jumper, dress, scarf or apron. Have a good rummage at home and see what you can find! Note books and cards also work too.

Foiling: Transferring metallic film to fabric using the heat press. This can be applied using foil adhesive (a bit like glue) painting your design directly onto your item of clothing or foil using a paint brush. Placing the metallic foiling on top of your adhesive, then popping this under the heat press for 20 seconds, leaving your image looking shiny!

If you have time and the materials to do so, have a go at making your own stencils at home so that you can spend more time metallic foiling your images onto a surface.

I recommend you use thin acetate sheets to make the stencils, keep it simple and keep it A3 size and under.

Try and avoid using paper for this workshop when making your stencils.

If you have any questions about the stencil making, feel free to call me or send me a message.

Please arrive to the venue 10 minutes before the workshop begins so we can all begin together.

This workshop is suitable for all levels.

All materials and equipment are provided for these workshops.

Aprons will be provided, but please wear clothing that you don’t mind getting messy in.

Due to table space, please do not bring large items to print onto such as a duvet cover and very large canvas.

At the end of the workshop please clean your space and the equipment you used, thank you.

Washing instructions.

Wash by hand in cold or luke warm water so that your deigns last!

Ironing instructions

Turn clothing inside out and iron on the revers side, low heat & no steam.

Nicole Line Workshops

Nicole is a graduate from University for the Creative Arts Farnham and studied Textiles for Fashion and Interiors. In 2014 she set up a textile workshop business teaching creative workshops to both adults and children of all ages and abilities. Nicole frequently runs a selection of Screen Printing and Tie dyeing events around London. The idea is to show local communities how to use Nicole's equipment without being in a professional studio. The workshops are aimed at beginners through to experienced artists and the relaxed environment allows both abilities to mix together and collaborate, sharing ideas, techniques and developing concepts. At the end of the workshop participants will have learnt how to use the equipment, where to source the materials, how to set up a studio space at home. Participants will also have a collection of fabric and paper samples and a range of finished products to take home. See below for a list of Nicole's upcoming events...
