What is Macramé?
Macramé comes from a 13th-century Arabic weavers’ word migramah, meaning “fringe”. It has a long history and has been developed by many different cultures over time.
Macramé is a form of textile-making that uses knotting techniques. It was also long crafted by sailors, especially in elaborate or ornamental knotting forms; Mainly to decorate anything from knife handles to bottles, to parts of ships.
Nowadays, with the development of more types of materials and colours, Macramé has become one of the most popular ways to create jewellery and wall hanging decorations.
What will you be doing during this workshop?
1. You will be shown how to make basic knots. Don't worry there aren't too many of them and they are super simple.
2, This workshop is for absolute beginners so we will use the most basic techniques, playing with beads and colours to create your very own friendship bracelet. It is a great way to get introduced to this amazing technique.
What do I need to join the workshop?
We have all the materials you need to join this workshop. Just arrive with a peaceful mind and get ready to enjoy the craft.
