Join master craftsman Jon Staniec and Pedro Passinhas of 'Denim and Dine' at Blackhorse Lane Atelier for a weekend of leather workshops and fine dining.

Produce your own artisanal leather pieces with personal instruction from Jon, with nourishing vegetarian lunch made on site by Michelin chef Pedro.

Set in the unique factory environment of a handmade denim Atelier, Pedro's pop up kitchen brings together exciting and surprising flavour combinations alongside technical brilliance, giving you a taste of Michelin style magic in a space shared with artists, including weavers and indigo dye makers.

Jonatan Staniec is the founding director of MES Leather, an East London-based workshop crafting durable and timeless leather goods using traditional hand methods and the highest quality leathers sourced from local suppliers. 

WORKSHOP DETAILS:

  • The workshop will take place over the weekend of 30/31st of July. You will learn how to make leather goods using the finest vegetable tanned leathers and traditional hand techniques. You have the option of booking a 2 days course over the weekend or a 1 day course on either the Saturday (30th) or Sunday (31st)
  • For the two day course, You can expect to make two finished items *or if you prefer 1day course this will be one item. For example Card Holder, Wallet, Belt, Phone Holder, Zip Purse, Journal Cover. Please note there is a booking requirement of 10 people per class. The workshop will run from 10am - 5pm, This will include a two course lunch at 2pm prepared by our Michelin trained chef Pedro Passinhas who runs Denim and Dine in the Atelier.

WORKSHOP CONTENT:

  • introduction to leather work & leather tools
  • working with patterns
  • leather cutting and gluing
  • traditional hand sewing with use of linen thread / two needles saddlery technique
  • hand finishing edges with use of edge bevelers, edge creasers and edge dyes
  • hand paring using skiver 
  • usage of saddlery leather tools including a strap cutter, an awl, screw creasers, pricking irons, groover, mallet, edge beveler etc.

 There are maximum 10 people per class and two assistants, so you can expect one to one tuition and guidance throughout the entire workshop. 10 leathercraft stations will be waiting for you in our denim factory.

WORKSHOP REQUIREMENTS:

  • Signing a health and safety consent form on arrival and observing our Health and Safety requirements.
  • No food and drink to be consumed in the factory during operation of tools and machinery.
  • No previous leather work experience required.

The Workshop will be held within the main factory space of Blackhorse Lane Ateliers. 114B Blackhorse Lane E17 6AA Walthamstow. The nearest tube – Blackhorse Road.

7. We regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase.
8. Tickets are sold subject to the venue or promoter's right to alter or vary the programme due to events or circumstances beyond its control without being obliged to refund monies or exchange tickets.
9. If this ticket is re-sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone other than the promoter, venue management, DesignMyNight or one of their authorised sub-agents, it will become voidable and the holder may be
refused entry to or ejected from the venue.

12. The event listed on the purchased ticket is strictly for ticket holders who are over 18 years of age. Identification may be required.
